The reception and accommodation venue in Blessington is situated 48 kilometers (30 miles) south of Dublin Airport. It is a 40 minute drive from the airport, and if you are planning to go directly from the airport to Blessington we strongly recommend that you rent a car ready for pick-up at Dublin Airport. If you are planning on spending some days in Dublin city before going to Blessington, it might be worth taking a taxi to your Bed & Breakfast/hotel in Dublin and use buses, trams, taxis, etc while in the city. Dublin is a small enough capital city that you can see most of it by walking in a day or two. Dublin traffic can be very busy and stressful at times, so if you do have a rental car in Dublin, you will probably find yourself not using it anyway while in the city. Parking can be expensive and is an issue in the city and not all hotels and B&Bs will offer parking. So if you are planning on having a rental car in the city, it is advisable that you make sure that your choice of accommodation can guarantee parking. There is a good selection of car rental companies operating from Dublin airport. We recommend Hertz and National/Carhire, as we have had good experiences with them, but the full list also includes Avis, Europcar, Budget, Thrifty and more. NOTE: If you choose to pick up your rental car from Dublin city center, please note that the locations are not all super central and that not all rental companies actually have locations in the city center, National/Carhire for example. Please see the car rental map. If you want to pick up your car from the city center, we recommend using Hertz. Their Dublin location is on the south side of the city, which makes driving south from Dublin up to Blessington easier.A few important things to remember when renting a car in Ireland: - Ireland has left-hand drive. -The driver’s seat is on the right, and therefore the gear shifter is to the left of the driver. -The majority of cars have manual transmission and that is what you will get in your rental car unless you request an automatic transmission. -Automatic transmission is available on request, but usually costs more than a manual transmission. -Gas is pricey but the cars here are more fuel efficient than American cars. -European cars are generally smaller than American cars. -Roads are smaller too. -Sheep happen.
Biludlejning Blessington, hvor vi holder festen og anbefaler at folk bor, ligger omkring 48 kilometer syd for Dublin lufthavn, hvilket svarer til en 40 minutters køretur. Hvis I planlægger at tage direkte fra lufthavnen til Blessington anbefaler vi stærkt, at I lejer en bil fra lufthavnen. Hvis I har tænkt jer at bo i selve Dublin, før I tager til Blessington, kan det godt betale sig at tage en taxa fra lufthavnen ind til jeres hotel/B&B. Trafikken i Dublin grænser ofte til vanvid og parkering kan være svært at finde, så hvis I har lyst til at opleve Dublin gøres det ikke i en bil. Vi anbefaler dog stadig, at I får fat i en bil når I skal til Blessington og kirken i Glencullen, da begge er beliggende i bjergene, hvor offentlig transport er sporadisk. Der er et godt udvalg af biludlejningsfirmaer repræsenteret i Dublin lufthavn, og de fleste af dem har også et udlejningssted i selve Dublin. Tag et kig på listen her.
